My Story

Hi, I’m Bowen.

Founder, Mech Tools

I didn’t start Mech Tools because I wanted to build a tool company.

I started it because I was frustrated.

I grew up in my dad’s building business, where weekends and school holidays were spent in the workshop or on site. Watching quality workmanship and solving problems became second nature long before I entered the trade myself.

For the last 22 years I’ve been plumbing — commercial to start, then into mechanical HVAC, where I’ve spent most of my time since. I’ve spent countless hours installing threaded rod, cleats and supports for ductwork, pipe, fans, skids, VRF/VRV systems and chilled water systems on commercial projects across Victoria.

Over those years I kept running into the same problem. Simple jobs were taking longer than they should because the tools I had weren’t built for the way we actually work. Too often I’d find myself modifying tools, improvising, or working around gear that just wasn’t fit for purpose.

Eventually I stopped asking why someone hadn’t made a better tool.

I decided to build it myself.

Every Mech Tools product starts the same way — a real problem I hit on site. From there it goes through sketches, prototypes, testing and countless refinements until it earns a place in my own toolbox.

If I wouldn’t trust it on site every day, I won’t put the Mech Tools name on it.
Today our tools are used by mechanical plumbers, HVAC installers, electricians and contractors across Australia.

And we’re only getting started.

The mission is simple: build trade tools that solve real problems and become the gear tradies reach for every day.

Designed by a tradie, for the trade.
